Two black planes are placed facing the camera perpendicularly. Different parts of the construct are revealed as they move and rotate.
I tried to use flash instead of quicktime movie. It allows me to get rid of the blogger or youtube bar and the animation can really blend in the black background of this blog.

This looks great! The starting black planes of the letter box move off camera a little too quickly. When they start to move they should move slowly. I would also keep one of the black planes in view of the camera at all times so that the full extent of the actual frame is never fully revealed at one time.
i agree with Luc... i think the black planes move too quickly and should never completely leave the frames space of the image... use the planes to constantly modify the frame and the framed space.
